Keep your water-based appliances working efficiently and reduce unwanted sediment from your tap water with the affordable, reusable Pentair Sediment & Sand Spin-Down Filter System. Pentair protects your plumbing and appliances with this easily installed filter to target dirt, debris, sand, and other nuisance particles.
The Pentair Sediment & Spin-Down Filter Systems make solid particle reduction hassle-free. Simply clean and reuse your sediment filter to maximize its lifespan and put money back in your pocket – there’s no need to consistently buy replacement filters. The economical price point doesn’t mean we skimp on quality. This powerful sediment filter delivers a high-flow capacity for your whole home, easy-flush functionality, tool-free access for cleaning, and comes equipped with a reusable filter screen and flush valve.
When the sediment filter is activated, the water and sediment swirl around the inside of the cover at high speed. The heavier contaminants spin out to the wall of the cover and drop down out of the water current.
The filtered water then flows through the filter screen and out of the filter body.
The screen will stop any lightweight particles suspended in the water, which are discharged. You can flush away accumulated matter in the cover or on the screen by opening the flush valve while the unit is in operation.
This unique filtration technology is sized to handle many types of sediment, including: shale, shell, debris, pipe scale, and sand/grit (coarse, fine, and very fine).
The design of the Spin-Down Sediment & Sand Filter System allows you to clean and reuse the filter repeatedly. You will only need to replace the filter at the end of its usable lifecycle. This will happen when you notice a distinct change in water pressure and flow, even with regular flushing and cleaning of your sediment filter. Your filter life will vary based on the concentration of sediment in your water supply.
For smaller particles, we recommend our Sediment & Prefilter System (Models BB10 and BB20). These advanced prefilter systems reduce particles as small as 5 microns.

Beyond taste and odor, the volatile chemical nature of chlorine means it can react and form potentially harmful byproducts. But, how much chlorine is ‘safe’?
Chloramine is a disinfectant that consists of five parts chlorine and one part ammonia. So, in a sense, it’s kind of “chlorine plus.” Find out how it gets into your water and how you can treat it.
