BASIC UV SYSTEMS

The Pentair Basic UV System offers an entry into UV water treatment without compromising performance. This salt-free, chemical-free system disinfects your water while using only the amount of energy required for a low-watt light bulb.

  • More effective against a broader range of organisms than chlorine
  • Does not negatively affect the taste or odor of your water
  • Two unique models to choose from to meet the demands of your home based on flow rate

OVERVIEW

BACTERIA DOESN’T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST UV

Ultraviolet (UV) light is found on the light spectrum just below visible light. Its natural power has germicidal properties, allowing it to be used as a pathogen reduction method that does not require the use of salt or harmful chemicals. For this reason, UV is an ideal solution for homeowners on well water, which typically sees higher levels of bacteria and viruses as a result of environmental impacts. Enter the Pentair Standard UV System. Don’t let its small footprint fool you, this system is certified to be 99.9% effective at reducing waterborne pathogens and uses as little energy as a 25-or 40-watt lightbulb. It features an interactive LCD display, allowing you to view lamp life, intensity status, troubleshooting steps, and more. Other features include:

  • UV sensor technology gives real-time performance information
  • UV Intensity Monitor detects changes in UVT (Ultra Violet Transmittance) in the water to help ensure the necessary dose is given at all times
  • Lamp Age Display will count down to indicate when the lamp should be replaced. Cool-Touch Kit significantly reduces water temperature while not wasting water, ideal for homes where water is not used on a regular basis
  • Lamp plug ensures that the UV lamp cannot be powered if it is not in the chamber

HOW IT WORKS

01 UV Lamp

UV disinfection does not affect taste, color, or odor of your water.

02 Indicator Lights

Indicator lights on the system show the status of the system components. Warning lights appear when system maintenance is required.

03 Safety Cap

The safety cap prevents children from accessing the lamp or electrical components. The special lamp plug ensures that no one can power the UV lamp if it is not in the UV chamber.

Systems tested and certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 55 for disinfection performance, Class B

View the comprehensive systems warranty policy here.
What is the difference between normal UV systems and Pentair UV Systems?

Pentair UV Systems are validated and certified under NSF 55 Class B. Validated models have a flow restrictor installed on the unit that limits the maximum flow, to guarantee a minimum 16 m/J dose @ 70% UVT according to the NSF standard which is acceptable for city water supply disinfection.

Will UV get rid of Iron Bacteria and/or Sulfur Reducing Bacteria?

UV is not recommended for the disinfection of water with iron or sulfur bacteria. With over 600 different types of iron and sulfur bacteria, and the jelly-like membrane the bacteria have, the UV would not be able to properly penetrate the membrane of the bacteria to disinfect the water. It is recommended you look at a chlorine injection system with retention to kill iron or sulfur bacteria.

Why is it recommended to pre-treat the water before installing a UV Premium System?

A 5 micron sediment prefilter is recommended to reduce dirt and debris. The reason for this pretreatment is the quality of the water can not only affect the dosage of UV disinfection the system provides, it may also cause premature "sleeve fouling" which will require the sleeve to be cleaned more often, and may also damage the UV sleeve.
