HOW IT WORKS

1. Carbon Filtration

Occurs when water passes through the media tank that is filled with activated carbon media. This reduces chlorine in a chemical reaction that oxidizes the carbon surface. It reduces the chlorine taste and odor from the water, delivering fresh water to the home. The carbon media will need to be cleaned and reactivated on a regular basis through engaging the backwash cycle.

2. Backwashing

Periodically the system will go through a backwashing cycle where water is flushed through the system and up through the media, then discharged to the drain. Backwashing lengthens the life of the media and maintains the performance of the filter.

3. Controller

Backwashing cycles are controlled by the electronic meter on the top of the system’s tank. The backwash cycle can be set to a specified number of days or as the electronic head recognizes that a certain amount of water has been used.

Frequently Asked Questions

01. Can I install the Whole House Carbon Filtration System outside?

We recommend the water filter and control valve not be exposed to outdoor elements like direct sunlight or atmospheric precipitation. We offer an outdoor weather cover accessory that will help protect the valve head from elements. This system can also be installed in a covered, open-air structure like a carport or basement.

02. What is the difference between the three models?

Each model has a different volume of carbon media to best suit your household water usage and needs. The three models contain 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 cubic feet of carbon media, respectively.

03. Does this system reduce microorganisms?

No. If you are concerned about microbial contaminants like viruses and bacteria, we recommend installing a Pentair UV Disinfection System.
